Road Trip Part 2

Marisa Cosgrave "No Deeper Meaning" got married to Jason Zurn!  He seems to be a very nice guy and her family loves him. It was wonderful to catch up with her and her family.  We did gymnastics together at BYU.  She was a floor specialist and so was her younger sister Candace. I also got to catch up with Brad and Dawn Cattermole my coaches from BYU.  They were amazing parents to me and great examples. I learned more than gymnastics from my time in the gym. Marisa and Jason live in Arizona and he has two young kids, who are very sweet. She will be a great wife and mother.  I'm so happy that she has found love and that she invited me to be there. I know she's a great example to him and she is always a happy person. She is one of the few that I have kept in contact with since BYU. Great things come in all different kinds of packages and back grounds; like my husband Jon. I love weddings and I love my choice. I wish I could get married all over again but have it be way different from what I remember.

Road Trip Part 1

Today we embarked on a 2 week road trip going from a hike and a wedding in the northern part of Utah, down south to Zion's National Park, to Carlsbad for LegoLand, to San Diego for the Fire Fighter Olympics and then home for a night then to Tahoe for a mini reunion with my family. By the end we were glad to be home, but all in all had an amazing time.  I will break this up by the events we did.

First we had to document the drive to UT; 12 hours of fun!  Actually the kids do have fun with tracking our progress on their personal maps, coloring, dot to dots, bubble gum blowing contests with Bubble Yum Gum, Battleship game, riddles and jokes, movies, word searches, story time with books, and naps.  Jon on the other had an amazing time with his earbuds they formed a bond that was almost unbreakable. My sister Brittany was kind enough to allow us to stay at her house while they were out of town so lodging was FREE!  Thank you! The first day their we visited Mt. Timpanogas and hiked it to the top.  We were sad we had to miss the cave tour, but we need to do it next time.  Rylee and Brody hiked the whole thing with minimal complaints and Jon and I took turns carrying Taylee and Britlee to the top.  Neither one of them walked but a couple steps.  The drop off is very severe we didn't want any deaths on our trip so we kept those little ones close.  Talk about a WORKOUT plus the elevation change made us huff and puff. HOLY COW! Jon, Rylee, Brody and I were hurting the next day.  Everyone complained about their glutes being sore. We also found Dickies BBQ which is now a new family favorite for us. Come to find out there is one in Folsom not to far away from our house! SWEET!

Brody - Mini Jon

I had to take these pictures because the backwards hat reminds me of my handsome husband when he was in high school, which is where we happened to meet. This is mini Jon, otherwise known as Brody and he's just as handsome, but sweeter because he's my little boy.

Marco's Captain Promotion

So Marcos Flores was promoted to captain.  He works for Santa Clara County Fire Dept.  Alissa had a party to celebrate his accomplishments and had silly stick on mustaches for the guys to goof off with.  It's always interesting when these guys get together.  Jon always has a great time. It was good to catch up with these people since I don't keep track of them on Facebook very well.

EDH Library Wild Things

This was amazing!  Today we went to the El Dorado Hills Library to see some wild animals.  They had many different ones like a kangaroo, lemur, alligator etc. This was crazy!  They had this boa constricter and Brody was chosen to hold it with a bunch of other kids! It weighs over a 100 lbs. At the end everyone got to walk by and touch the snake.  I refused, totally gross, but the kids were brave.

Brody's Baseball Game

Brody had such a blast this past year in baseball that he wanted to recreate a game with some of his buddies.  He's been watching a lot of the movie Sandlot lately.  He totally orchestrated it on his own.  He created a list of people he wanted to invite, how warm ups would go and then have everyone back to his house for pizza and swimming.  I helped him with the evite.  We all had a great time! Rylee looks so cute in Brody's uniform! From left to right, top to bottom - Collin James, Jack Whiting, Rylee Rudnicki, Brylee Escobar, Tyler Schwartz, Gabe Hudgens, Brody Rudnicki, Joaquin Hudgens and Gavin Sweyd.

Rylee's Cheer Camp

This summer Rylee and Brody each got to choose one camp to do.  I like the kids home and miss them when they are in school.  Summer time is our time together. Rylee chose a cheer camp put on by McKayla Shouse.  She did a great job and Rylee had so much fun!  They made hair bows, learned a couple of cheers and a dance routine that they performed for the parents at the end of the week. Rylee did awesome!  I love watching her perform! She won the award for the best attitude which makes me super happy!  McKayla said that she never complained even though it was hot and all the other girls complained about the heat.  She would encourage the girls to keep going!  That's my RYLEE!

Taylee's Gymnastics

Taylee is such a great listener at gymnastics and we love her so much! Britlee grapples at the gate because she can hardly wait until she is 3 for her turn!

Folsom Pro Rodeo & Mutton Bustin

This is something I look forward to every year!  Well technically this will be our first time as a family but my third time to a rodeo since high school with Jon. I really like the rodeo and the kids had a blast! This is Brody's first time Mutton Bustin and he did AWESOME, even though he said he's never doing it again. (We'll let Brody sleep on it for a year and see what Jon has to say about his statement.) Brody stayed on for about 1.2 seconds.  The sheep bucked right out of the gate which made it hard to hold on, plus practicing on Jon's back really doesn't cut it. The person who won was a girl who was decked out in chaps and an official cowboy hat.  Jon said he thinks her dad was a bull rider and that she practiced on their sheep at home. Rylee was really bummed that we didn't know about it when she was 5 years old.  I'm bummed too because I would have loved to have seen her out there. At least the girls got a chance to go out onto the dirt arena and do the "Coin Dig".  The clowns and other helpers throw coins into the dirt for the kids to find.  There were so many kids down their.  Our kids came back empty handed which made them a little sad but there was so much action going on that they quickly were distracted with the next event.  Rylee loved the barrel racing because it was all girls who did it.  The bull riding is pretty awesome and the night ended with the dirt bike riders doing X-Games type jumps AND a GREAT fireworks show!!
