Road Trip Part 6

Today we got up in the morning and had breakfast down in the hotel restaurant, which is always awesome because everyone can get exactly what they want. Then we headed off to the pool to check it out and cool off.  Then we met up with Wayne and Kiri Liao for dinner.  Unfortunately Wayne had to do a little work that evening so it was a short visit but great none the less.  They are doing great and it was fun to catch up and meet their cute little girls. Then we headed back to the host hotel for the Kids Olympics.  There were many fun things going on and they had so much fun - a fire fighter challenge, laser tag, carnival games, a ride in a bouncy ball which made them sick to their stomachs, a dance party with limbo, and a raffle. Rylee and Brody were just dying each time a number was called and it wasn't theirs. Then it hit, they announced a number and who's the winner? Taylee, the one who could care less if she won or not.  Brody and Rylee were crushed. Heh, you live you learn, not everyone gets something.
Next day was Jon's Crossfit competition, which started early morning.  He got a ride and we met him there right before competition started.  The WOD's were insane to say the least. One was row, barbell over head hold while partner did pull ups then wall balls. Another was a crazy ladder up and down with a million pushups, gauntlet squats and kettle bell swings and a run around the building.  Then there was a tie breaker with muscle ups and something else.  We didn't stay for it.  I think the programer was trying to cause rhabdo. I was a little irritated to say the least. They should have chosen fun WOD's that were entertaining for the participants and the spectators. Jon on the other hand didn't complain at all and had a great time participating, but I think that workout solidified Jon's end of Crossfit. He's over the competition and now he takes a Mark Sisson approach to life. Be active, eat healthy and live to be a million years old. I on the other hand am trying to kill myself off quickly being as competitive as I am. Who wants to live to be that old anyways? Not me. Anyhow we were so proud of Jon and all his hard work! Then we celebrated with BBQ for lunch with Jeremy and Kylene and then back to the hotel for the pool. We love you Jon! Next day we drove home to sleep in our beds for one night.

Road Trip Part 5

So after LasVegas we spent the night in a hotel and did laundry which was much needed and woke up early for LegoLand! The kids were so EXCITED for this! They had no idea because we surprised them on the way! I can say I'd really never go back and that once was enough for me, but I'm sure we'll make it back again sometime this lifetime. The kids rode rides, saw a silly fire fighter show, played with legos, saw lego mini land (which is the coolest thing there, many cities recreated in legos), saw the new Lego Chima video, rock climbed, raced cars and ate lego food. It was really interesting to see the heads of famous people built out of legos and life size depictions of other Star Wars characters and people totally made out of legos.  I can't remember the number but they even built a life size model of a Jedi's air craft. I think it was in the trillions or something. Talk about detail! At the end of the day we drove down to San Diego and stayed the night in the host hotel for the Fire Fighter Olympics.

Road Trip Part 4

On our drive back into California we had to go through Las Vegas so we stopped off for about an hour and saw an old BYU teammate of mine, Denice Pauga-Fisher.  She is so goofy and I love her because she was so influential at BYU when I was there. There were many things we related to.  She is now all grown up with 4 kids of her own and doing well. Steve is a great guy and though we missed seeing him we had a nice visit with Denice and her kids. Love you D!

Road Trip Part 3

Next stop Zion National Park.  On the way down we encountered weird weather.  It went from dry and hot to cold and hail.  Weird but nice because we've been sweating all summer long so some cold hail was FUN! Zion was awesome! Perfect hikes for the whole family and the massive stroller could go anywhere, though there were parts where Jon and I did carry it with 2 relaxing kids inside. Heavy, but it was a WORKOUT! I think this was the "goal" of this entire trip.  To see how many workouts in different areas of the western states we could do. Brody always had to do a tuck plange every where we went. It's one of the skills he has been working on in his Hot Shot class this summer. Anyhow, we burned a lot of calories. Now, back to Zion. We found out about a Jr. Ranger program they offer where the kids get a packet that they have to complete and they then in return receive an award and in this case they received a badge. They were so proud of their accomplishments because they truly worked hard for those things. Jon and I were very happy with their persistence in getting it completed. They even had a swear in process to make it extra official. We love the out of doors and I think this will be our new tradition in going to one national park every summer until we hit them all!! I love our family! Oh ya, the last picture is Taylee on the toilet in the hotel with Jon's hat on.  Silly bugger. Oh and the kids loved the hotel and the view from the hotel is amazing. I could go back there.
