This is something I look forward to every year! Well technically this will be our first time as a family but my third time to a rodeo since high school with Jon. I really like the rodeo and the kids had a blast! This is Brody's first time Mutton Bustin and he did AWESOME, even though he said he's never doing it again. (We'll let Brody sleep on it for a year and see what Jon has to say about his statement.) Brody stayed on for about 1.2 seconds. The sheep bucked right out of the gate which made it hard to hold on, plus practicing on Jon's back really doesn't cut it. The person who won was a girl who was decked out in chaps and an official cowboy hat. Jon said he thinks her dad was a bull rider and that she practiced on their sheep at home. Rylee was really bummed that we didn't know about it when she was 5 years old. I'm bummed too because I would have loved to have seen her out there. At least the girls got a chance to go out onto the dirt arena and do the "Coin Dig". The clowns and other helpers throw coins into the dirt for the kids to find. There were so many kids down their. Our kids came back empty handed which made them a little sad but there was so much action going on that they quickly were distracted with the next event. Rylee loved the barrel racing because it was all girls who did it. The bull riding is pretty awesome and the night ended with the dirt bike riders doing X-Games type jumps AND a GREAT fireworks show!!
